The ProQuest Civil War Era Archive contains complete runs of eight newspapers and nearly 2,000 pamphlets. The eight newspapers cover three from the southern states—Richmond Dispatch (Virginia), Charleston Mercury (South Carolina), New Orleans Times Picayune (Louisiana); three from the northern states—Boston Herald, New York Herald, Columbus State Journal (Ohio); and two from the border states—The Kentucky Daily Journal, Memphis Daily Appeal.
