About OCLC

The Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) is a non-profit membership organization that provides library related computer products, services, systems and research.

OCLC services are built around WorldCat, the OCLC Online Union Catalog. WorldCat is the world's largest and most comprehensive electronic database of bibliographic information and currently contains over 100 million records. The database is used for cataloging, reference, acquisitions and resource sharing purposes.

Working with OCLC

Most libraries "join" OCLC through their regional network. Since the early 1970s MINITEX has served as the network for libraries in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. We work with OCLC and our MINITEX member libraries to provide the following services:

  • Profiling for new OCLC members
  • Price quotes and billing for OCLC products and services
  • Assistance submitting new orders and renewals
  • OCLC Product Support and Training
